Removal notices

Rights holders can file here. Complete notices are actioned within two working days and the pages named stay removed.

Before filing

Notices are handled by one person and actioned quickly when they are complete. A notice is complete when it identifies the work, identifies every page it appears on, and comes from someone entitled to act for the rights holder. Notices that name the site in general without naming pages cannot be actioned, because there is nothing specific to remove.

Send one notice covering everything rather than a separate notice per page. Splitting a single complaint across many submissions slows the handling down for everyone including you.

Confirmation and the reference number go to this address.

What happens next

You receive a reference number at the address given. The pages named are reviewed against the notice, and complete notices are actioned within two working days. Once a page is removed it stays removed, and the title is added to a block list so it does not reappear when someone submits it again.

Incomplete notices come back with a note saying which part is missing rather than being ignored. That is not an obstacle, it is faster than a back and forth about what was meant.

Counter notices

If material was removed and you believe that was wrong, a counter notice can be sent through the same form with the reference number included. It is passed to the party who filed the original notice.

Repeat notices

A rights holder who files regularly can ask for a standing block on a set of titles, which prevents them being listed at all rather than removing them after the fact. Ask for that in the statement field and it will be set up.
