Frequently asked questions
Accounts, wait timers, antivirus flags, mirrors and versions. The things people write in about, answered once.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to register for, nothing to log into, and no email address is asked for before a download. Every page on this site works the same whether you have been here once or a thousand times.
Why are there no wait timers?
Because they exist to sell advertising impressions, not to manage load. The mirrors here are sized for the traffic they get, so there is no reason to make anyone sit through a countdown.
What does pre-activated mean on a listing?
The build has already had its licensing step applied, so it runs with the paid feature set from the first launch. Where a title needs an extra step instead, the install notes on that page say so explicitly.
Why does my antivirus flag some downloads?
Activation utilities are flagged on pattern rather than behaviour, because the technique they use overlaps with things that are genuinely malicious. That is why the affected listings tell you to exclude the folder before extracting. Ordinary application installers on this site are not flagged.
A download stopped halfway through, what now?
Try the second mirror first, then the torrent. If all three stop at the same point the file itself is the problem and the contact form is the right move, with the title and the mirror named.
Should I use the direct link or the torrent?
The direct mirrors are faster for anything small. For the large images, the torrent usually wins because the swarm is not a single server with a queue in front of it, and it survives an interrupted transfer more gracefully.
Can I get an older version of something?
Usually. Older releases are held even when only the current one is listed. Ask on the requests page and name the version.
Are the download counts real?
They come from the site index and record what has actually been pulled from here. They are not publisher figures and they are not rounded up for effect.
Why is a title I want not here?
Either nobody has brought in a complete build worth listing, or it was checked and failed. File a request and it goes into the queue.
Do you bundle anything with the installers?
No. What you download is the package described in the write-up. There is no wrapper, no offer screen and no second installer riding along.
How often is the library updated?
Continuously. Titles are rebuilt as new versions come out, and the update log shows what has moved recently.
Can I mirror or repost these files?
The packages are not ours to license, so there is nothing to grant. If you run a mirror and want to help carry load, say so through the contact form.
