Overview
uTorrent became the default BitTorrent client because it was tiny and did not get in the way, and the current build still holds to that. The executable is a few megabytes, it starts instantly, and it can hold hundreds of active torrents without turning into a memory problem. Everything is in one window: the transfer list, the peer and tracker tabs, the piece map and the speed graph.
The transfer management is more capable than the small footprint suggests. Bandwidth scheduling by hour and day, global and per-torrent speed caps, seeding goals with automatic stop on ratio, queueing rules, label based organisation with folders per label, selective file downloading inside a torrent, sequential downloading for media, and RSS feeds with filters that add matching releases automatically.
On the protocol side it covers what a modern client needs: DHT, peer exchange, local peer discovery, magnet links, encrypted connections, IPv6, UPnP and NAT-PMP port mapping, web seeds and full support for the newer torrent format alongside the original. The configuration in this build has the promotional panels and offers switched off, so the interface is just the client.

Installation
- Extract the archive and close any client already running in the tray.
- Run the installer and decline every optional component it offers.
- Set the download and completed folders before adding anything.
- Enable port mapping or forward a port manually for better connectivity.
- Turn the update check off so the configuration stays as installed.
Before you start
The disk cache setting matters more than any other option on a solid state drive, raise it rather than leaving the default.
Some networks block the default port range, pick a high random port and forward it.
Keep the completed folder on the same volume as the download folder, otherwise every finished transfer is copied rather than moved.
