Overview

Windows 10 Professional is the version most machines that do real work still run, and the 22H2 image is the final feature branch of that line. This is the multilingual x64 ISO, pre-activated, with the Professional feature set unlocked rather than the Home configuration that ships on retail hardware.

The Professional additions are the ones that matter for anyone past a single home PC: BitLocker full disk encryption, Hyper-V for local virtual machines, hosting Remote Desktop rather than only connecting out, the Group Policy editor, and the ability to join a domain. The Home edition drops all of it, which is why so many machines get reimaged the day they arrive.

The image is unmodified apart from activation and can be written to a USB drive with any standard tool. It installs clean, upgrades in place over an existing Windows 10, and passes the built-in servicing check afterwards so security updates continue to arrive normally.

What it does well

Professional feature set

BitLocker, Hyper-V, Remote Desktop host, Group Policy editor, domain join and assigned access, none of which exist in Home.

Multilingual image

Eleven interface languages selectable at setup, with the rest available as packs afterwards.

Clean or in place

Boot the media for a clean install, or run setup from inside an existing Windows 10 to upgrade while keeping files and applications.

Servicing intact

Security and quality updates continue to install normally after setup, nothing in the update path is stripped.

Standard media

Written with any USB tool, works on UEFI and legacy BIOS machines, and the recovery environment is present.

Changes in this build

  • Cumulative servicing rolled into the image so the first update pass is short.
  • Driver set refreshed for current storage controllers so setup finds NVMe disks without a load driver step.
  • Language selection reordered at setup for faster keyboard configuration.
  • Torrent payload repacked with larger pieces for quicker verification.
  • Fixed an upgrade failure on machines with a leftover reserved partition from an old install.

What is in the package

Before you start

Disconnect secondary disks during setup so the boot loader lands on the right drive.

An in place upgrade keeps files but also keeps whatever was already broken.

Verify the checksum before writing the image, a bad download shows up as a setup failure at 70 percent.

About this listing

This entry was checked on a clean install of x64 ISO before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.

If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.

Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
