Overview
Windows 7 Professional is still the system running on a surprising number of workshop machines, laboratory benches, machine tool controllers and studio rigs where the attached hardware has a driver for this and nothing else. This is the multilingual x64 image with the service pack and the convenience rollup already integrated, so setup finishes without the update pass that used to take an entire day.
The Professional feature set is what separates this from the Home images that came on retail hardware: domain join, Remote Desktop hosting rather than only connecting out, the Group Policy editor, encrypting file system, backup to a network location and the XP compatibility mode that a lot of old line of business software still leans on.
The image is standard media apart from activation. It writes to a USB drive with any tool that handles this era, installs on both UEFI and legacy BIOS machines, and includes the recovery environment. Storage driver support has been extended so setup finds modern NVMe and AHCI controllers without the load driver prompt that the original media hits on newer boards.
What it does well
Professional feature set
Domain join, Remote Desktop host, Group Policy editor, encrypting file system, network backup and XP mode, none of which exist in the Home editions.
Rollup integrated
Service pack and the convenience rollup are already in the image, so the first boot is not followed by hours of updates.
Modern storage support
Additional NVMe and AHCI drivers folded in so setup sees current disks without a manual driver load.
Multilingual
Nine interface languages selectable at setup with the rest available as packs afterwards.
Standard media
Bootable with any USB writing tool, works on UEFI and legacy firmware, recovery environment present.

Before you start
This system no longer receives security updates, keep it off open networks where that matters.
Some very recent processors will install but never get a working power management driver.
Verify the checksum before writing, a bad image usually shows up as a setup failure part way through.

No, an older system is always a clean install.
About this listing
This entry was checked on a clean install of x64 ISO before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.
If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.
Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
