Overview

After Effects 2026 is the layer-based compositor most motion work still runs through. Keyframes, masks, track mattes, shape layers, expressions, the puppet tool, 3D camera and light rigs, and a plug-in ecosystem that nothing else matches. This is the full installer with the render engine included, so queue output does not need a second package.

The 3D side is now genuinely usable rather than a curiosity. Extruded shape and text layers render through the advanced 3D pipeline with image-based lighting and environment maps, and the draft preview keeps up while you position a camera. Combined with the camera tracker, matching a graphic into live plate footage takes minutes instead of an evening.

The expression engine is worth calling out separately. Property linking, layer referencing, time remapping and the expression editor with inline errors and autocomplete mean rig-heavy templates behave predictably. Motion graphics templates authored here drop into a timeline editor with only the controls you expose.

What it does well

Advanced 3D

Extruded geometry, image-based lighting, environment maps and real shadows with a draft mode that stays interactive while you block out a shot.

Tracking set

Camera tracker, planar mocha integration, single point and mask tracking, and face tracking with editable points for beauty and replacement work.

Roto Brush and matting

Roto Brush propagates a matte across frames with edge refinement that holds on hair. Keylight handles green screen with spill suppression in the same chain.

Expressions and rigging

A full scripting layer over every animatable property, with an editor that flags errors inline and a property linker that avoids hand written references.

Render pipeline

Queue to the bundled render engine so the interface stays free, with multi-frame rendering using every available core and a disk cache that survives restarts.

Changes in this build

  • 3D environment lights now accept HDR panoramas directly with rotation and intensity controls.
  • Multi-frame rendering rebalanced, which cut long comp render times on high core count machines.
  • Property panel adds a search field across effects on the selected layer.
  • New shape repeaters with per-copy transform offsets for pattern animation.
  • Project caching reworked so reopening a heavy comp no longer rebuilds every frame.

What is in the package

  • After Effects 2026 full offline installer, 64-bit
  • Bundled render engine for background output
  • Planar tracking module
  • Starter template pack with editable control rigs
  • Multilingual interface packs, 18 languages

System requirements

ProcessorMulticore 64-bit, 8 cores or more recommended
Memory32 GB recommended, 16 GB is a hard floor for HD work
GraphicsGPU with 8 GB VRAM for the advanced 3D pipeline
Storage25 GB free plus a dedicated disk cache volume
Display1920 x 1080 minimum, second monitor strongly recommended
SystemWindows 10 22H2 or Windows 11, 64-bit only

Installation

  1. Extract to a local drive with room for the cache as well as the install.
  2. Close any editing application that shares the render engine.
  3. Run setup, choose the interface language, and let it complete.
  4. Set the disk cache to a fast volume and give it at least 100 GB.
  5. Open a sample composition once so the GPU shaders compile.

Before you start

Memory settings under preferences reserve RAM for other applications. Lower that reserve on a dedicated machine.

Third party plug-ins from an older cycle usually need their own reinstall against this version.

Turn off automatic updates so component versions stay aligned with the editor.

Questions about this title

Does it include the render engine?

Yes, background rendering is part of this package.

Can I use my existing plug-ins?

Most work, but anything compiled against an older SDK should be reinstalled for this cycle.

Is multi-frame rendering on by default?

Yes, and it scales with core count. It can be limited in preferences.

Does it read project files from the previous release?

Yes, projects upgrade on open and cannot be saved back.

About this listing

This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.

If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.

Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
