Overview
Resolve is four applications sharing one project: a cut and edit page for assembly, a colour page that is still the reference grading environment for feature work, Fusion for node based compositing, and Fairlight for a full mixing desk with bussing and automation. The Studio configuration unlocks the parts the free build holds back.
Studio adds the things that matter on paid work: resolutions above 4K on the timeline, high frame rate output, temporal and spatial noise reduction, optical flow retiming, HDR grading tools, the neural engine features, film grain, lens effects, remote grading and multi-user collaboration against a shared database.
The colour page is the reason most people install it. Primary wheels and log controls, curves, unlimited nodes with parallel and layer mixing, power windows with tracking, qualifiers that hold on skin, colour management through ACES or the Blackmagic pipeline, and scopes that broadcast engineers trust. Nothing else at this price gets close.

Installation
- Extract the archive to a local drive.
- Update the GPU driver before installing, Resolve is strict about driver versions.
- Run setup and let it install the panel and audio components.
- Launch once and set the cache and gallery locations.
- Create a project and set the colour science before importing media.
Before you start
An out of date GPU driver is the cause of almost every launch failure.
Set the colour science at project creation, changing it later reworks every grade.
The project database lives outside the media folder, back it up separately.
