Overview
Fresco was designed around a pen and a screen you can draw directly on, and it shows in every decision. The interface stays out of the way, the brush cursor tracks with almost no perceptible lag, and pressure, tilt and velocity are read properly rather than approximated. On a pen display or a convertible laptop it feels much closer to drawing than a general purpose editor does.
Three media types share one canvas. Raster brushes carry the full pixel brush engine with texture, dual tips and blending, so anyone with an existing brush collection is on familiar ground. Vector brushes produce resolution independent strokes that stay crisp at any zoom, useful for lettering and line art that has to scale. Live media brushes are the distinctive part: watercolour and oil that behave physically, bleeding into wet areas, mixing where colours meet and drying when told to.
The rest is a proper illustration application rather than a sketching toy. Layers with masks, clipping and blend modes, selection tools with refinement, transform with warp, symmetry and perspective guides, a time lapse recording of the whole session, and export to layered formats that open in the desktop compositing and vector applications with the structure intact.

Installation
- Install the pen display or tablet driver first and confirm pressure is reported.
- Extract the archive to a local folder.
- Run the installer and choose the interface language.
- Apply the included configuration step before first launch.
- Draw a test stroke and adjust the pressure curve in settings to suit your hand.
Before you start
Live media brushes are the heaviest part of the application, a weak GPU shows up as stroke lag there first.
Without a pen the application still runs, but the whole design assumes one.
Turn off automatic updates so the installed build stays fixed.
