Overview
XD is a vector design tool built specifically for screens. Artboards represent devices, components hold the repeated pieces of an interface, and the prototype mode wires those artboards together into something a client can click through before a single line of code exists.
The design side is deliberately narrow and fast. Vector shapes, boolean operations, a type panel with proper baseline control, responsive resize that keeps padding and alignment when an artboard changes size, stacks and padding for list layouts, and repeat grid for filling a design with real content in seconds. Files stay light even at several hundred artboards.
Prototyping is where it earns its place next to a general drawing tool. Interactions carry triggers, transitions, easing and timed delays, auto animate morphs matching layers between two artboards without keyframes, component states cover hover and pressed behaviour, and voice triggers exist for the interfaces that need them. The result previews live on the desktop and exports as a shareable package.
What it does well
Components and states
Build a control once, reuse it everywhere, and give it hover, pressed and disabled states that carry into the prototype.
Responsive resize
Constraints and padding keep a layout intact when an artboard changes size, so one design covers several screen widths.
Repeat grid
Fill a list or card layout with real content instantly and edit the whole set from one item.
Auto animate
Morph between two artboards by matching layer names, producing a real transition without any keyframing.

Installation
- Extract the archive to a local folder.
- Close any running Adobe process before starting setup.
- Run the installer and pick your interface language.
- Launch once and create a blank document so the preview component registers.
- Turn off automatic updates in the preferences panel.
Before you start
Documents from newer builds may not open in older ones, keep a version consistent across a team.
Preview runs as a separate window, some window managers place it behind the editor on first launch.
Plugin panels installed from an older release should be reinstalled against this build.
Questions about this title
Can it open other design tool files?
Common interchange formats import, though effects and some layout rules need cleanup afterwards.
Does the prototype run offline?
Yes, preview runs locally and the exported package plays without a connection.
Are plugins supported?
Yes, the plugin panel is present. Install plugins for this build rather than carrying old ones over.
Can developers get measurements?
Yes, the specification view gives sizes, colours, type styles and exportable assets.
About this listing
This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.
If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.
Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
