Overview

Canva took the parts of layout design that most people actually need and made them fast. Pick a template at the right size, drop text and photos into it, adjust the palette, export. For social posts, presentations, flyers, menus and simple documents that is the entire job, and it takes minutes rather than an afternoon in a professional page tool.

The desktop client is not just the site in a window. It keeps a local cache of assets and recent designs, handles system fonts, uses hardware acceleration for the canvas, and holds a project open when the connection drops. For anyone who works on a laptop in variable conditions that is the difference between a usable tool and a frustrating one.

This configuration has the premium side available: the full element and stock library, the complete font list with brand kit support, background removal, magic resize that reflows a design into another aspect ratio, and export options including transparent background and print ready PDF with bleed and crop marks.

It is worth being clear about what it is not. There is no colour separation, no CMYK preflight beyond the print export preset, and no vector drawing to speak of. It is a layout and assembly tool, and it is the right one when the deadline is this afternoon and the deliverable is a post rather than a press run.

What it does well

Template driven layout

Thousands of starting layouts at correct sizes for social, presentation, print and document formats, all fully editable rather than locked.

Brand kit

Store palettes, fonts and logos as a kit and apply them across a design in one action, which keeps a set of posts visually consistent.

Magic resize

Reflow a finished design into another aspect ratio with elements repositioned rather than stretched, so one layout covers a whole posting set.

Background removal

Cut a subject out of a photo in one pass with edge refinement, no selection work required.

Export options

PNG with transparency, JPG, MP4 for animated designs, and print ready PDF with bleed and crop marks.

Changes in this build

  • Local cache reworked so recent designs open instantly and survive a connection drop.
  • Background removal quality improved on hair and fine edges.
  • System font handling fixed for families with many weights.
  • Canvas rendering moved to the GPU, which removed lag on designs with many elements.
  • Print export gained a bleed and crop mark control in the dialog.

Before you start

The client updates itself aggressively. Blocking the updater is what keeps the configuration in place.

The asset cache grows over time, clear it from settings if disk space matters.

Designs are stored per profile. Export anything important rather than relying on the cache.

Questions about this title

Does it work without a connection?

Cached designs open and edit offline, but the element library needs a connection to browse.

Are premium elements available?

Yes, the full element, template and font library is enabled in this configuration.

Can it export print ready files?

Yes, PDF export with bleed and crop marks is included.

Is it the same as the browser version?

The feature set matches, but the client adds local caching, system fonts and GPU rendering.

About this listing

This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.

If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.

Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
