Overview
Clip Studio Paint is the application that took comic and manga production off paper for most of the industry, and the drawing engine is why. The brushes respond to pressure, tilt and velocity with stabilisation that removes hand shake without making a line feel dead, and the inking behaves like a real pen: line weight tapers with pressure, and correction can be applied after the stroke without redrawing it.
Vector line layers are the feature that separates it from a plain raster painting tool. A line drawn on a vector layer can have its width changed afterwards, its shape adjusted by moving control points, and its intersections cleaned with an eraser that deletes up to the nearest crossing. For inked line art that is the single largest time saving available anywhere.
The EX tier adds multi-page project management, which is what a comic actually needs. Pages are held in one story file with a page order, spread handling, panel templates, text and balloon tools with proper typesetting, and export of the whole book at once to print or web specification. Word balloons carry their own tail geometry and reflow when the text changes.
Reference and animation tools round it out. Posable 3D figures and objects can be placed in a frame, lit and traced from, with perspective rulers that snap lines to vanishing points. The animation timeline supports frame by frame drawing with onion skinning, light table references and export to video or image sequence, without a page limit in this tier.
What it does well
Drawing engine
Pressure, tilt and velocity response with stroke stabilisation, plus post-stroke correction that adjusts a line without redrawing it.
Vector line layers
Line width, shape and intersections all editable after the stroke, with an eraser that clears up to the nearest crossing.
Multi-page story files
Whole books managed as one project with page order, spreads, panel templates and single action export to print or web specification.
3D reference and rulers
Posable figures and objects placed in frame for tracing, with perspective rulers that snap strokes to vanishing points.
Animation timeline
Frame by frame animation with onion skinning and light table references, exported to video or an image sequence, with no frame cap in this tier.

Installation
- Install the driver for your pen tablet or display first.
- Extract the archive and run the installer to the default location.
- Apply the included activation step before first launch.
- Open once and confirm pressure response in the brush settings.
- Set the material library location if you keep brushes on another drive.
Before you start
Pen pressure not working is almost always the tablet driver rather than the application.
Story files reference their pages, keep the whole project folder together when moving it.
The EX tier is the one with multi-page and unlimited animation frames, do not confuse it with the lower tier.

About this listing
This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.
If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.
Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
