Overview
SPSS is the package a very large share of published quantitative research was analysed in, and the reason is the interface. Everything can be done from menus and dialogs, so a researcher who is not a programmer can run a factor analysis or a mixed model correctly without writing code, while every action also emits syntax that can be saved, edited and rerun to reproduce the analysis exactly.
The data side is built around a rectangular case by variable file with proper variable metadata: measurement level, value labels, missing value codes and formats. That metadata is what makes the output readable, because tables come out labelled with the words the questionnaire used rather than column numbers, and it is why importing from a spreadsheet always feels like a downgrade.
The procedure coverage is wide. Descriptives and crosstabs, t tests and analysis of variance with post hoc comparisons, correlation and partial correlation, linear, logistic, ordinal and multinomial regression, factor analysis and reliability, cluster and discriminant analysis, survival analysis, non-parametric tests, complex samples, mixed and generalised linear models, and time series forecasting.
This package has the module set installed rather than the base configuration alone, which is the difference between running the analysis a study needs and finding the menu entry greyed out. Output goes to a viewer document holding tables and charts that export to word processor, spreadsheet and PDF formats with formatting intact.
What it does well
Menus and syntax together
Every dialog writes the syntax it ran, so an analysis done by pointing and clicking can be saved and reproduced as a script.
Proper variable metadata
Measurement level, value labels, missing codes and formats stored with the data, which is what makes the output tables readable.
Wide procedure coverage
From descriptives and crosstabs through regression families, factor analysis, survival, mixed models, complex samples and forecasting.
Full module set
The add-on modules are installed, so advanced statistics, regression, forecasting, categories and missing values are all available.
Output that exports
Tables and charts land in a viewer document and export to word processor, spreadsheet and PDF formats with the formatting preserved.
Changes in this build

- Faster file open on very wide datasets with thousands of variables.
- Chart builder rendering updated for high DPI displays.
- Improved import from current spreadsheet formats with type detection.
- Syntax editor gained better autocomplete and inline error reporting.

Installation
- Extract the archive to a local drive.
- Run the installer and choose the interface language.
- Apply the licensing step from the included folder before first launch.
- Apply the interim fix pack if setup did not fold it in.
- Open a sample dataset and run one procedure to confirm the modules are present.
Before you start
Check that the modules are listed under the analyse menu after install, a partial licence shows as greyed out entries.
Save the syntax for anything that will be reported, it is the only way to reproduce an analysis reliably.
Data files written here open in later releases, but syntax written for a newer version may use unavailable keywords.
Questions about this title
Are the add-on modules included?
Yes, the full module set is installed rather than the base configuration alone.
Does it read spreadsheet files?
Yes, with type detection, though variable metadata has to be set afterwards.
Can analyses be scripted?
Yes, every dialog emits syntax and full syntax files can be written and run directly.
Will output export cleanly?
Yes, viewer documents export to word processor, spreadsheet and PDF formats with formatting intact.
About this listing
This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.
If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.
Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
