Overview
Cubase Pro is one of the oldest sequencers still in active development and it remains the reference for anyone who works with MIDI seriously. The key editor, the drum editor, the score editor and the logical editor together give more control over note data than anything else on the platform, and the expression map system drives articulation switching on large orchestral libraries without a rack of dummy tracks.
The audio side is a full studio. Unlimited audio tracks with lane based comping, ARA integration for pitch and time editing inside the timeline, a channel strip on every track with gate, compressor, saturation and EQ, VCA faders, a control room section with independent monitor and cue mixes, and a mixer that behaves like a desk rather than a list of plug-in slots.
This is the Pro configuration, which is the one that carries the full set. The lower tiers cut the control room, the VCA faders, the score editor, the surround path and a large part of the instrument content. What ships here is the complete package, including the sampler, the drum machine, the analogue modelled synth set and the loop and preset libraries that normally arrive as separate multi-gigabyte downloads.
Mixdown and delivery are covered in the same application. The export queue renders multiple ranges and stem sets in one pass, the loudness meter reports to broadcast and streaming targets, and the mastering chain handles the final limit and dither without leaving the project.

Instrument and effect set

Batch export of ranges and stems, loudness metering against broadcast and streaming targets, and a mastering chain with limiting and dither in the project.

Installation
- Extract the archive to a drive with 70 GB free, the content is most of the size.
- Install the audio driver for your interface before the sequencer.
- Run setup and choose which content libraries to install, they can be skipped and added later.
- Do not launch the application until the licence step in the included instructions is finished.
- Open once, set the ASIO buffer, and let the plug-in scan complete before loading a project.
Before you start
The first plug-in scan takes a long time on a machine with a large third party collection. Let it finish.
Sample content streams from disk. Putting it on a mechanical drive causes voice dropouts on dense projects.
Projects saved here will not open in an earlier major version, export MIDI and stems if that matters.
