Overview
This image exists for machines caught between two problems: hardware that fails the current install requirements, and hardware that would technically pass but has nowhere near enough headroom to run the full build comfortably. The requirement checks for the security module, the processor generation and the memory floor are relaxed, and the bundled component set is stripped back.
What comes off is the part that matters on a slow machine: the preinstalled applications, the store components, the assistant, the widget layer, telemetry services, most of the background tasks and the optional feature set. What stays is the desktop, the shell, networking, printing, audio, the driver stack and the servicing components, so it remains a usable general purpose system rather than a kiosk build.
On a machine with eight gigabytes of memory and a mechanical disk the difference is immediately visible in boot time, in idle memory usage and in how quickly the shell responds after a cold start. The trade off is the same as any trimmed image: removed components are gone, some store based applications will not install, and feature branch upgrades on top of it are not supported.

Installation
- Read the component removal notes before writing the image.
- Write the ISO to a USB drive of 8 GB or larger.
- Back up the target disk, a clean install removes partitions.
- Boot the drive, the requirement checks are already relaxed so setup proceeds.
- Install the chipset and network drivers first if the trimmed set does not cover them.
Before you start
Removed components cannot be restored, decide what the machine needs first.
Feature branch upgrades on top of a trimmed image are not supported.
Some store based applications will not install on this build.
