Overview
Vegas has always worked differently from the other timeline editors and people who like it like it for that reason. Events sit on tracks and are trimmed, split, crossfaded and moved with the mouse and the keyboard directly, with no separate trim mode to enter. Dragging one event over another creates the crossfade. For assembly work that speed adds up over a long day.
The audio side is unusually strong for a video application, which comes from the product's history as a multitrack audio editor. Every track has its own effect chain and bus routing, envelopes are drawn straight onto the track, and the mixing console behaves like a desk. Editors who deliver spoken word, interview or event material do a lot of the sound work here instead of round tripping to a separate tool.
Compositing is done through track hierarchy. Parent and child tracks, per-track masks and motion, blend modes and a 3D track motion space give a lot of layered work without leaving the timeline. Combined with the bundled effect set, most of what a promo or an event video needs is available in one pass.
This release carries the effect and transition packages from the current owner's catalogue, which pushes the built in toolset well past where it used to sit: title tools, lens effects, image restoration, film looks and a planar tracking path for screen replacements and beauty work.
What it does well
Direct timeline editing
Trim, split, slip and crossfade by dragging events, with no mode switching and a keyboard map that covers the whole assembly workflow.
Audio depth
Per-track effect chains, bus routing, drawn envelopes and a real mixing console, enough that dialogue work never has to leave the project.
Track compositing
Parent and child tracks, per-track masks, blend modes and 3D track motion for layered graphics without a separate compositor.
Bundled effect catalogue
Title tools, lens and optical effects, restoration filters, film emulation looks and planar tracking for screen and skin work.
Delivery options
Render presets covering broadcast masters, intermediate codecs, web H.264 and vertical formats, with hardware encoding where available.

Before you start
Prerender files grow quickly. Point them somewhere with space and clear them between projects.
Older project files open, but effect parameters from third party plug-ins may need reassigning.
Turn off the update check so the bundled effect versions stay matched to the editor.

About this listing
This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.
If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.
Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
