Overview
CCleaner has been on more machines than almost any other maintenance tool, and the Professional Plus bundle is the version with the whole family included rather than the cleaner on its own. Alongside the main application it carries the file recovery tool, the hardware inventory reporter and the defragmenter, all installed together and licensed as one set.
The cleaner itself works through a list of rules per application. Browser caches, cookies, session data, download histories, log files, temporary folders, memory dumps, thumbnail caches, recent document lists, and the leftovers of applications that were uninstalled badly. Every category can be included or excluded, and an analysis pass reports what would be removed before anything is touched.
The registry tool is more conservative than its reputation suggests. It looks for missing shared libraries, orphaned file extensions, dead startup entries, invalid application paths and unused class keys, offers a backup before any change, and skips anything ambiguous. Used sensibly it is a repair tool rather than a speed trick.
The Professional tier adds the parts people actually notice: real time monitoring that clears junk as it accumulates, scheduled cleaning that runs unattended, automatic browser cleaning at close, and a driver and software update checker. This build has those modules enabled with the upgrade prompts removed.

Installation
- Close every browser before running the installer.
- Extract the archive and run setup to the default location.
- Apply the included configuration step to enable the Professional modules.
- Run an analysis pass first and read the list before cleaning anything.
- Set the schedule and turn off the automatic program updater.
Before you start
Clearing cookies logs you out of sites. Add the ones you want kept to the exclusion list first.
Take the registry backup when it is offered, it costs nothing and has saved plenty of machines.
Defragmenting a solid state drive is unnecessary. The tool detects them, but check before running it.
