Overview

Driver Booster scans what is actually installed in a machine, compares each driver against its database, and offers the newer ones. It covers graphics, chipset, audio, network, storage, input and printer devices, including the ones Windows update quietly ignores because a generic driver technically works.

The Pro configuration removes the download queue limits, updates everything in one pass rather than one device at a time, and adds the game component set: runtime libraries and framework packages that older titles expect and that a fresh Windows install does not have.

The safety side is the reason to use a tool rather than hunting driver pages manually. A restore point is created before any change, each replaced driver is backed up individually, and any single update can be rolled back from the tool without touching the rest. If a display driver goes wrong, there is a way back that does not involve safe mode.

What it does well

Wide device coverage

Graphics, chipset, audio, network, storage, input and printer drivers, including devices Windows update leaves on a generic driver.

Backup and rollback

A restore point before each session plus per-driver backups, so one bad update rolls back on its own.

Bulk update

Update every outdated driver in one pass without per-device queueing or download caps.

Game components

Runtime libraries and framework packages that older titles depend on, installed as a set.

Scheduled scanning

Automatic scans on an interval with a summary, so the check happens without anyone remembering to run it.

Changes in this build

  • Database refreshed with current Nvidia, AMD and Intel graphics drivers.
  • Faster hardware scan on machines with many attached devices.
  • Rollback improved for display drivers that fail before the desktop loads.
  • Reduced background service memory use.
  • Interface reorganised with a clearer per-device history view.

What is in the package

  • Driver Booster Pro installer
  • Offline driver database index
  • Game component runtime set
  • Backup and rollback module
  • Multilingual interface files, 32 languages

Installation

  1. Extract the archive and close any other driver utility.
  2. Run the installer and decline the bundled extras it offers.
  3. Apply the included configuration step before first launch.
  4. Run a scan and review the list before updating anything.
  5. Update in small groups rather than all at once on a working machine.

Before you start

Update graphics drivers on their own, not in a batch with everything else.

Keep the backup folder, it is what makes a rollback possible.

Skip driver updates for hardware that is working correctly, newer is not always better.

Questions about this title

Can it break my system?

Any driver update can. Restore points and per-driver backups exist for exactly that reason.

Does it need a connection?

Yes, to fetch the drivers themselves. The scan works offline.

What are game components?

Runtime libraries and frameworks older titles expect but a clean Windows does not include.

Can I roll back one driver?

Yes, individually, without reverting the whole session.

About this listing

This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11 before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.

If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.

Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
