Overview

KMSAuto++ is the small portable utility most people reach for when a fresh Windows or Office install needs its state sorted out in one pass. It runs from a folder, does not install itself into the system, and puts the whole job behind two buttons rather than a page of command line switches.

Under the interface it sets up a local key management service on the machine, points the product at it, applies the matching generic key for the edition it detects, and confirms the result. The detection step is the part that saves time: it reads the installed edition and channel first, so a Professional image and a Professional Plus office suite do not get handed the wrong key by mistake.

The renewal task is optional but it is why this build stays on machines rather than being deleted after one run. A scheduled task re-runs the process on a fixed interval so the state does not lapse after a servicing update rewrites the licensing store. The task can be created, inspected and removed from the same window that created it.

What it does well

Edition detection

Reads the installed Windows edition and the Office channel before doing anything, then selects the matching key rather than trying a list until one sticks.

Portable by design

Runs from any folder or a USB stick with no installer, no registry residue outside the licensing store and no background component left behind.

Scheduled renewal

Creates an optional task that repeats the process on an interval, with a viewer that shows whether the last run succeeded.

Office coverage

Handles the click to run suites as well as the older installer based releases, including mixed machines that carry both.

Utilities panel

Bundled tools for clearing a previous key, reading the current status, switching an edition and resetting the licensing store when something else left it broken.

Changes in this build

  • Detection updated for the current Windows 11 servicing branch.
  • Office click to run handling reworked so a repaired suite is picked up without a restart.
  • Scheduled task creation now reports failures instead of silently doing nothing.
  • Interface language files extended and the layout tightened on high DPI displays.
  • Fixed a hang on machines where the software protection service had been disabled by a cleanup tool.

  • KMSAuto++ portable executable, 32 and 64-bit

Installation

  1. Extract the archive to a folder outside the system drive root.
  2. Pause any real time protection, which will otherwise quarantine the executable on sight.
  3. Run the tool as administrator, there is no installer step.
  4. Use the detection panel first and confirm the edition it reports matches what is installed.
  5. Run the process, then create the renewal task if you want the state kept.

Before you start

Every tool of this type is flagged by scanners because of what it does to the licensing store. That is expected behaviour.

Do not run two different activation utilities on the same machine, they overwrite each other and leave the store in a confused state.

If the renewal task disappears after a feature update, recreate it from the same panel.

Questions about this title

Does it install anything?

No, it runs portable. The only lasting changes are the licensing state and the optional scheduled task.

Does it cover Office as well as Windows?

Yes, both click to run and installer based suites are handled.

Why does my scanner block it?

Utilities that write to the licensing store are detected generically. Exclude the folder if you want to keep it.

Can I remove it cleanly?

Yes, delete the scheduled task from the utilities panel first, then delete the folder.

About this listing

This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11 before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.

If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.

Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
