Overview

Movavi Screen Recorder is built for people who need a recording finished and uploaded rather than a full production pipeline. Pick a region or a window, choose whether system audio, microphone and webcam come along, and record. When you stop, the clip opens in a trimming view where the dead ends come off and the file exports without ever touching an editor.

The features that separate it from the recorder built into the operating system are the ones that show up in tutorial work: on screen drawing while recording, mouse cursor highlighting and click effects, keystroke display so viewers can see the shortcut being pressed, a webcam overlay with adjustable size and position, and a countdown before capture starts. Scheduled recording handles calls and streams that start when nobody is at the machine.

Output covers the formats people actually deliver in, with hardware encoding on current GPUs so long captures do not turn into hour long exports. Frame rate goes up to 60 for gameplay, audio tracks can be kept separate for cleanup afterwards, and the whole thing runs at a low enough overhead that recording a demanding application does not ruin the recording.

What it does well

Region and window capture

Record a fixed region, a single window or a full display, with the capture frame resizable while you set up the shot.

Webcam and audio

Overlay a webcam feed at any size and corner, and record system sound and microphone as separate tracks for cleanup later.

Teaching tools

Draw on screen during recording, highlight the cursor, show clicks and display keystrokes so shortcuts are visible to the viewer.

Scheduled recording

Set a start time and duration so a call, a lecture or a stream records itself without anyone at the machine.

Trim and export

A cut down editor for removing dead ends and mistakes, with hardware accelerated export to the common delivery formats.

Changes in this build

  • Hardware encoding extended to current AMD and Intel GPUs rather than only Nvidia.
  • Separate audio track recording added so microphone and system sound can be fixed independently.
  • Keystroke display reworked with cleaner styling and modifier grouping.
  • Lower capture overhead when recording full screen applications at 60 frames per second.
  • Scheduler now supports recurring entries rather than single events.

What is in the package

  • Movavi Screen Recorder installer, 64-bit
  • Capture and hardware encoding components
  • Webcam overlay and drawing tool modules
  • Export presets for the common delivery formats
  • Multilingual interface files, 16 languages

System requirements

ProcessorIntel or AMD 64-bit, quad core recommended
Memory4 GB minimum, 8 GB for 60 frame per second capture
GraphicsGPU with a hardware encoder strongly recommended
Storage1 GB for the install plus considerable space for recordings
Display1280 x 768 minimum
SystemWindows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit

Installation

  1. Extract the archive to a local folder and close any other capture tool.
  2. Run the installer and let the capture driver register.
  3. Apply the included configuration step before the first launch.
  4. Start the application and set the recording output folder to a fast drive.
  5. Record a short test clip to confirm audio devices are picked up correctly.

Before you start

Two capture tools running at once will fight over the audio devices, close the other one.

Recording to the system drive while a game runs from it will cost frames, use a second disk.

Turn off automatic updates so the installed configuration stays in place.

Questions about this title

Can it record system sound and the microphone together?

Yes, and they can be kept as separate tracks so each is fixable afterwards.

Is there a recording length limit?

No, length is limited only by disk space in this build.

Does it record at 60 frames per second?

Yes, on hardware with a capable encoder, which is the usual choice for gameplay.

Can I schedule an unattended recording?

Yes, set a start time and duration, and recurring entries are supported.

About this listing

This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.

If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.

Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
