Most desktop boards and a large share of laptops use a Realtek codec for onboard audio, and the generic driver the operating system installs works but leaves capability on the table. Installation
- Extract the archive to a local folder.
- Uninstall the existing audio driver from device manager and reboot.
- Run the installer and let it detect the codec on the board.
- Reboot when prompted, the control panel does not appear until you do.
- Set the speaker configuration and jack behaviour in the control panel.
Before you start
A reboot between removing the old driver and installing this one avoids most failures.
Some laptop vendors layer their own audio processing on top, installing this replaces it.
