Overview

Universe is a large collection of transitions and effects that installs once and appears in every supported editing and compositing application on the machine. The point is coverage: rather than hunting for a specific plug-in when a shot needs a glow, a glitch, a light leak or a whip pan, the whole set is already in the effects list.

The transitions are the part editors use daily. Whip pans, zooms, glitches, light wipes, film burns, chroma bleeds and channel shifts, all GPU accelerated so a preview plays back without a render step, and all parameterised rather than fixed clips, so the same transition can be subtle on one cut and aggressive on the next.

The effects side runs wider. Optical glows and lens flares with real falloff, chromatic aberration and lens distortion, film and video emulation including scanlines, halation and tape artefacts, retro computer looks, text and title generators, tone mapping and colour grading tools, and a set of distortion and displacement effects for stylised work. Presets ship for everything, and every one is a starting point rather than a locked result.

What it does well

Large transition set

Whip pans, zooms, glitches, film burns, light wipes and channel shifts, parameterised so the same effect scales from subtle to extreme.

GPU accelerated

Effects render on the graphics card so timelines preview at frame rate rather than requiring a background render pass.

Optical effects

Glows, flares, chromatic aberration and lens distortion built on optical behaviour rather than a blurred copy of the source layer.

Film and retro looks

Scanlines, halation, tape artefacts, film grain and vintage computer emulation with per-parameter control over the degradation.

Host coverage

Installs into the common editing and compositing applications at once, so the same look is available wherever the project lives.

Changes in this build

  • Several effects rewritten for the current GPU pipelines with lower render times.
  • New transition set added to the collection.
  • Preset browser rebuilt with search and favourites across the whole library.
  • Improved handling of high dynamic range sources in the glow and flare effects.
  • Fixed a host crash when several instances were stacked on one layer.

What is in the package

  • Universe collection installer, 64-bit
  • Plug-in modules for the common editing and compositing hosts
  • Full transition and effect library
  • Preset library with a searchable browser
  • Offline installer with no component downloads

System requirements

ProcessorIntel or AMD 64-bit, quad core recommended
Memory16 GB recommended
GraphicsGPU with 4 GB VRAM, 8 GB for high resolution timelines
Storage6 GB free
Display1920 x 1080 minimum
SystemWindows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit

Installation

  1. Close every editing and compositing application first.
  2. Extract the archive to a local drive.
  3. Run setup and select the hosts it should install into.
  4. Apply the included configuration step before starting a host.
  5. Open a host, refresh the effect list, and drop one transition on a cut to confirm.

Before you start

Install into every host you use at once, adding one later means rerunning setup.

Projects using these effects need the collection present on any other machine that opens them.

Block the updater, an update replaces the modules and the configuration goes with them.

Are the effects GPU accelerated?

Yes, which is why timelines preview without a render pass.

Is the whole library included?

Yes, this is the complete collection rather than a subset.

Do presets come with it?

Yes, for every effect, and all of them stay editable.

About this listing

This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.

If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.

Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
