VideoProc Converter is a processing tool rather than an editor. Files go in, files come out, and everything in between is a recipe applied to them. Transcoding between the common codecs and containers, resolution and frame rate conversion, bitrate control, audio extraction, subtitle muxing, cropping and rotation, all with hardware acceleration on the current GPU families.
The model driven features are the reason for the current name. Upscaling reconstructs detail while enlarging rather than interpolating a soft frame larger. Frame interpolation generates intermediate frames for smooth slow motion or clean frame rate conversion. Stabilisation removes camera shake with rolling shutter correction. These are the same categories of job a dedicated restoration package handles, at a fraction of the processing time and with correspondingly less finesse.
Around all of that sits a set of utilities that keep the application installed on a lot of machines. Installation
- Extract the archive and close any running instance.
- Run the installer and let the model weights unpack.
- Apply the included configuration step before first launch.
- Open the settings panel and confirm hardware acceleration is detected.
- Set the output folder to a drive with room for the results.
Before you start
Hardware encoding is faster but software encoding still produces a better file at the same bitrate.
Upscaling output is large, budget disk space before queueing a batch.
Turn off the update check so the configuration is not replaced.
