Overview

SolidWorks is history based parametric modelling for mechanical design. Sketch, constrain, extrude, cut, fillet, and the feature tree records every step so any of it can be changed later and the model rebuilds. That editability is the whole reason it dominates product and machine design work.

The Premium configuration adds the parts that turn modelling into engineering. Simulation covers linear stress, frequency, buckling and thermal analysis with meshing you can control. Routing handles piping, tubing and electrical harnesses as real components. Motion analysis drives an assembly with forces and gravity. Tolerance analysis reports whether a stack up actually assembles.

Assemblies and drawings carry the practical load. Mates constrain components with detection for over-definition, large assembly mode keeps a machine with tens of thousands of parts open, and drawings generate views, sections, details and bills of materials that update when the model does. Sheet metal, weldments and mould tooling each have their own dedicated feature set.

What it does well

Parametric feature tree

Every operation recorded and editable, with rollback, reordering and design tables that drive configurations from a spreadsheet.

Assemblies at scale

Mates with over-definition detection, large assembly mode, envelope publishing and interference detection across the whole machine.

Simulation

Linear stress, frequency, buckling, thermal and motion analysis with controllable meshing and readable result plots.

Routing and electrical

Piping, tubing and harness routing as real geometry, with flattened harness drawings for manufacture.

Drawings and manufacture

Automatic views, sections, details and bills of materials, plus sheet metal flat patterns, weldment cut lists and mould tooling.

Changes in this build

  • Faster rebuild on deep feature trees and large configuration sets.
  • Assembly graphics reworked, improving rotation on very large models.
  • Simulation meshing improved for thin walled and sheet metal geometry.
  • Drawing view generation is quicker on assemblies with many components.
  • Improved import of neutral formats with better healing on damaged surfaces.

What is in the package

  • SolidWorks 2026 Premium installer, 64-bit
  • Simulation, motion and tolerance analysis modules
  • Routing for piping, tubing and electrical
  • Toolbox standard parts library
  • Multilingual interface packs, 13 languages

System requirements

Processor3.3 GHz or faster, high clock speed matters more than core count
Memory32 GB recommended, 16 GB minimum for small assemblies
GraphicsCertified workstation GPU with 8 GB VRAM strongly recommended
Storage60 GB free including the library
Display1920 x 1080 minimum, 2560 x 1440 recommended
SystemWindows 10 22H2 or Windows 11, 64-bit

Installation

  1. Extract the archive to a drive with 80 GB free.
  2. Disable the network adapter before running setup.
  3. Run the installation manager and select Premium with the modules you need.
  4. Apply the included configuration step before first launch.
  5. Start the application and set the Toolbox library location.

Before you start

The Toolbox library should live on shared storage for a team, not the local disk.

Consumer GPUs work but certified workstation cards avoid a long list of display artefacts.

Files saved in this release cannot be opened by an earlier version, use a neutral format for exchange.

Questions about this title

Is Simulation included?

Yes, the Premium modules including simulation, motion and tolerance analysis.

Does it include Toolbox?

Yes, the standard parts library installs with the package.

Can it open STEP and IGES?

Yes, with import healing for damaged surfaces.

Will an older SolidWorks open these files?

No, save to a neutral format for exchange with earlier versions.

About this listing

This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.

If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.

Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
