Overview
AutoCAD Electrical is ordinary AutoCAD with a controls design toolset laid on top, and the difference shows up the moment a drawing gets edited. Symbols are intelligent rather than decorative, so inserting a contactor knows it is a contactor, understands its coil and contact relationship, and carries a catalogue reference. Change a device and every sheet that references it updates rather than quietly going out of date.
Wire numbering and component tagging are automatic and configurable to a house standard. Cross referencing between coils and their contacts is maintained by the drawing rather than by whoever remembers, and a parent device knows which child contacts exist and where they sit. On a panel with several hundred devices this is the difference between a set of drawings that matches the built cabinet and a set that does not.
Reports are generated rather than typed. Bills of material, from and to wire lists, terminal plans, cable summaries and panel layouts all come out of the same drawing database, and they update when the drawings do. The symbol libraries cover the common standards used across regions, along with a large catalogue of real manufacturer devices with their part numbers attached.
What it does well
Intelligent symbols
Devices carry catalogue data, terminal information and coil to contact relationships rather than being loose linework.
Automatic wire numbering
Wire numbers and device tags generate to a configurable standard, and renumber cleanly after a sheet insertion.
Real time cross referencing
Coils know where their contacts are and contacts know their parent, with references updating as the drawing changes.
Generated reports
Bills of material, wire from and to lists, terminal plans and cable summaries pulled straight from the drawing database.
Standards libraries
Symbol sets covering the common regional standards plus a catalogue of manufacturer devices with real part numbers.
Changes in this build
- Manufacturer catalogue refreshed with current device families and part numbers.
- Terminal plan editor reworked with faster editing on large strips.
- Report generation speed improved substantially on project sets above two hundred sheets.
- PLC input and output module generation extended to more current hardware families.
- Fixed a cross reference defect on drawings copied between projects.

Installation
- Extract the archive to a local drive with 40 GB free.
- Close any running Autodesk application and its background service.
- Run setup, choose the interface language, and let the catalogue database install.
- Launch once and let the profile and library indexes build.
- Turn off the desktop updater so the components stay aligned.
Before you start
Project files reference an external catalogue database, keep it with the project when moving machines.
Drawings from an older release convert on open and should be saved forward once.
The updater will replace toolset components if left enabled, disable it after install.
Questions about this title
Does it include plain AutoCAD?
Yes, the full base application is present with the electrical toolset on top.
Are reports live?
They regenerate from the drawing database, so a rerun after edits reflects the current state.
Which standards are covered?
The symbol libraries cover the common regional standards and can be extended with house symbols.
Can it open normal AutoCAD drawings?
Yes, standard drawings open fine. Intelligent behaviour only applies to toolset symbols.
About this listing
This entry was checked on a clean install of Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) before it was published, and it is rechecked whenever the package is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the site index rather than from the publisher, so the download count is what people here have actually pulled.
If a mirror stops answering, use the contact form and it gets replaced. Reports about a specific title are handled faster than general messages because they name the file, the mirror and the point at which the transfer stopped.
Requests for a different version, a different language build or an older release go on the requests page. Older versions of a title are usually still held even when only the current one is listed.
