Overview
STAAD.Pro is the general purpose structural analysis package that a very large share of the world's buildings, towers, plants and bridges have been checked against at some point. A model is built as nodes, members, plates and solids, loads and combinations are applied, the solver runs, and the results come back as forces, displacements, reactions and code check ratios that a reviewer can follow.
The analysis range is wide. Linear static is the everyday case, but the solver also covers p-delta and geometric non-linearity, buckling, cable and tension only members, dynamic modal extraction, response spectrum, time history and moving load analysis for bridge decks. Foundation and mat design work off the same model, so a reaction set does not have to be exported and re-entered somewhere else.
Design code coverage is the reason it travels well. Steel, concrete, timber, aluminium and cold formed sections are checked against the codes used across most regions, with the section libraries and material tables that match each one. Reports come out as a structured document with input, diagrams, tables and check summaries in an order a checking engineer expects.

Installation
- Extract the archive to a local drive, never a network share.
- Remove any earlier install of the same product family first.
- Run setup and let the prerequisite runtimes install when prompted.
- Apply the included configuration step before the first launch.
- Open a sample model and run a static analysis to confirm the solver works.
Before you start
Keep the working folder off the system drive, analysis scratch files get large.
Block the connection client from starting with the system, it does nothing useful here.
Model files from a much older release should be opened and saved forward once before real work.
